In August 2023, the average import price for vegetables; potatoes (other than seed), fresh or chilleds amounted to $467 per ton, growing by 20% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 35% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $503 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($1,508 per ton), while the price for Slovakia ($425 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+64.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for vegetables; potatoes (other than seed), fresh or chilleds stood at $654 per ton in October 2023, jumping by 19% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 42% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $684 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to October 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($726 per ton), while the average price for exports to Moldova ($277 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Vegetables; Potatoes (Other than Seed), Fresh or Chilled in Poland

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of vegetables; potatoes (other than seed), fresh or chilleds, when their volume increased by 33% to 167K tons. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt decline.

In value terms, imports of vegetables; potatoes (other than seed), fresh or chilleds surged to $49M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, faced a abrupt curtailment.
