Price for Urea and Thiourea Resins in Indonesia (CIF) - 2022

In March 2022, the average urea and thiourea resins import price amounted to $1,820 per ton, with a decrease of -3.3% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in July 2021 when the average import price increased by 37% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,075 per ton. From August 2021 to March 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Japan ($4,259 per ton), while the price for Singapore ($1,107 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+8.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Price for Urea and Thiourea Resins in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022

The average urea and thiourea resins export price stood at $1,186 per ton in March 2022, with an increase of 10% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated temperate growth from March 2021 to March 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.8% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on March 2022 figures, urea and thiourea resins export price decreased by -10.5% against January 2022 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2021 when the average export price increased by 27% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $1,326 per ton in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to March 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Pakistan ($3,399 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cote d'Ivoire ($920 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ethiopia (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Urea and Thiourea Resins in Indonesia

In 2022, supplies from abroad of urea resins and thiourea resins in primary forms decreased by -22% to 12K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, imports recorded a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 5.9% against the previous year.

In value terms, urea and thiourea resins imports fell to $21M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 25%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $24M, and then contracted in the following year.

The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
