The average import price for tomatoes; prepared or preserved otherwise than by vinegar or acetic acid stood at $1,140 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.0%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,223 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Portugal ($1,409 per ton), while the price for Greece ($731 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,912 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to November 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the UK ($3,921 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($1,033 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
