In September 2023, the average tobacco, unmanufactured; tobacco refuse import price amounted to $4,583 per ton, shrinking by -1.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 8.9% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4,872 per ton. From February 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($9,737 per ton), while the price for China ($2,440 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price peaked at $6,909 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
