In August 2023, the average tobacco; "homogenised" or "reconstituted" export price amounted to $9,228 per ton, with an increase of 15% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 39% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $20,380 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($24,104 per ton), while the average price for exports to Croatia ($3,280 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average tobacco; "homogenised" or "reconstituted" import price amounted to $33,420 per ton, waning by -5.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 275% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $53,297 per ton. From July 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($58,662 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($2,910 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Dominican Republic (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third consecutive year, the United States recorded decline in overseas shipments of tobacco; "homogenised" or "reconstituted"s, which decreased by -9.3% to 5K tons in 2022. In general, exports showed a abrupt shrinkage. The smallest decline of -0.9% was in 2021.
In value terms, tobacco; "homogenised" or "reconstituted" exports expanded sharply to $60M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a perceptible shrinkage.
