In August 2023, the average tobacco; "homogenised" or "reconstituted" import price amounted to $7,254 per ton, falling by -18.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a noticeable increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, tobacco; "homogenised" or "reconstituted" import price increased by +7.3% against April 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 41% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $8,935 per ton, and then dropped significantly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($14,975 per ton), while the price for Poland ($1,780 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 22% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $18,571 per ton. From June 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($19,319 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany stood at $15,988 per ton.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Spain (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of tobacco; "homogenised" or "reconstituted"s decreased by -6.4% to 1K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. As a result, imports reached the peak of 1.4K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
