Price for Tobacco; "Homogenised" or "Reconstituted" in Egypt (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average tobacco; "homogenised" or "reconstituted" export price amounted to $5,080 per ton, waning by -19.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 68%. The export price peaked at $6,884 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cote d'Ivoire ($39,967 per ton), while the average price for exports to Libya ($2,915 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sudan (+57.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average tobacco; "homogenised" or "reconstituted" import price stood at $4,278 per ton in 2022, which is down by -6% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 9.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $4,552 per ton in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($40,808 per ton), while the price for Switzerland stood at $3,407 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+18.1%).
Exports of Tobacco; "Homogenised" or "Reconstituted" in Egypt
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of tobacco; "homogenised" or "reconstituted"s decreased by -5% to 4.3 tons in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +60.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 51%.
In value terms, tobacco; "homogenised" or "reconstituted" exports fell markedly to $22K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 88% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $28K, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, tobacco; "homogenised" or "reconstituted" imports rose modestly to $16K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a perceptible decline.
