In September 2023, the average sulphates; alums; peroxosulphates (persulphates) export price amounted to $277 per ton, declining by -15.5% against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 an increase of 38% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $551 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Italy ($548 per ton), while the average price for exports to Algeria ($103 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Angola (-0.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average sulphates; alums; peroxosulphates (persulphates) import price stood at $622 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -29.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 69% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $884 per ton, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($2,360 per ton), while the price for Russia ($198 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+12.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In general, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +79.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 41%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
