In October 2023, the average import price for sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa amounted to $3,666 per ton, declining by -31.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 25% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $5,321 per ton in September 2023, and then dropped notably in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($16,839 per ton), while the price for Morocco ($2,064 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Norway (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Canada ($5,509 per ton), while the average price for exports to Norway ($2,953 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Estonia (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, imports of sugar confectionery; (excluding chewing gum, including white chocolate), not containing cocoa soared to $107M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Overall, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +19.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +71.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 42% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
