In 2022, the average import price for steel, stainless amounted to $4,853 per ton, rising by 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 92%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($5,714 per ton), while the price for Saudi Arabia ($1,389 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for steel, stainless stood at $6,481 per ton in 2022, growing by 2.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 188%. The export price peaked at $6,586 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($6,494 per ton), while the average price for exports to Free Zones ($3,710 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+13.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

For the fourth consecutive year, Jordan recorded growth in purchases abroad of steel, stainless, which increased by 40% to 127 tons in 2022. In value terms, exports of steel, stainless skyrocketed to $260K in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 550%.
