Price for Steel, Alloy; Semi-Finished Products in Vietnam (FOB) - 2021

The average steel, alloy; semi-finished products export price stood at $695 per ton in December 2021, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2021 when the average export price increased by 278% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,773 per ton. From March 2021 to December 2021, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($695 per ton), while the average price for exports to China amounted to $695 per ton.

From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,818 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
