In 2022, the average steel, alloy; semi-finished products import price amounted to $1,097 per ton, growing by 30% against the previous year. In general, the import price posted a notable increase. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,253 per ton, and then fell in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,738 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($780 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
