The average import price for steel, alloy; bars and rods, hot-rolled, in irregularly wound coilses stood at $1,033 per ton in March 2022, flattening at the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2021 an increase of 21% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $1,105 per ton in November 2021; however, from December 2021 to March 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Japan ($1,421 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($843 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
