The average export price for steel, alloy; bars and rods, hot-rolled, in irregularly wound coilses stood at $647 per ton in July 2023, standing approximately at the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a mild curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 56% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,127 per ton. From January 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($683 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sri Lanka stood at $608 per ton.

From November 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+616.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 44% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,277 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
