Price for Steel, Alloy; Angles, Shapes and Sections in Ukraine (CIF) - 2022
The average import price for steel, alloy; angles, shapes and sectionses stood at $1,523 per ton in 2022, growing by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for steel, alloy; angles, shapes and sectionses increased by +77.7% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 27% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($1,796 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($1,058 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for steel, alloy; angles, shapes and sectionses amounted to $966 per ton, surging by 5.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 66% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,005 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Russia.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Belarus amounted to +1.1% per year.
Imports of Steel, Alloy; Angles, Shapes and Sections in Ukraine
In 2022, overseas purchases of steel, alloy; angles, shapes and sectionses decreased by -29.6% to 564 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 5.1% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 922 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of failed to regain momentum.
