The average import price for steel, alloy; angles, shapes and sectionses stood at $1,571 per ton in December 2023, declining by -34.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 62% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $3,381 per ton in September 2023; however, from October 2023 to December 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Austria ($10,628 per ton), while the price for Italy ($1,167 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+12.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
