The average import price for stainless steel bars and rods, angles, shapes and sectionses stood at $4,548 per ton in October 2023, with a decrease of -31.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price saw a mild downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2023 when the average import price increased by 27% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $6,676 per ton, and then fell markedly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the UK ($14,483 per ton), while the price for China ($2,584 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for stainless steel bars and rods, angles, shapes and sectionses amounted to $7,701 per ton, waning by -7.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a notable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 135% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $15,870 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($12,859 per ton), while the average price for exports to France ($3,815 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+15.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
