In 2022, the average export price for spices; vanilla, crushed or ground amounted to $6,172 per ton, standing approx. at the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+20.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 230%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $210,636 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($3,000 per ton), while the price for Madagascar stood at $1,000 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+17.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
