The average export price for spices; vanilla, crushed or ground stood at $227,615 per ton in 2022, waning by -9.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a slight increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 518% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $507,365 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($455,290 per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($5,610 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+28.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for spices; vanilla, crushed or ground amounted to $69,009 per ton, reducing by -20.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, posted a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 166%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $131,070 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($480,591 per ton), while the price for France ($20,452 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+27.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
