In December 2023, the average import price for spices; ginger, neither crushed nor ground amounted to $4,339 per ton, standing approximately at the previous month. Over the period from December 2022 to December 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.9%. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 23% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $4,557 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to December 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($4,639 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($3,837 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for spices; ginger, neither crushed nor ground amounted to $2,769 per ton, picking up by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 140%.
