Price for Spices Except Pepper or Ginger in Peru (FOB) - 2022
The average export price for spices except pepper or ginger stood at $2,249 per ton in 2022, falling by -7.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $3,049 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($4,754 per ton), while the average price for exports to Colombia ($521 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Dominican Republic (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In April 2020, the average import price for spices except pepper or ginger amounted to $5,034 per ton, waning by -17.7% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2020 when the average import price increased by 43% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $6,114 per ton, and then fell rapidly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($12,455 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($3,674 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2020 to April 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Exports of Spices Except Pepper or Ginger in Peru
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of spices except pepper or ginger, when their volume decreased by -23.7% to 5.5K tons. In general, total exports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
