The average import price for spices; cloves (whole fruit, cloves and stems), neither crushed nor ground stood at $5,894 per ton in 2022, which is down by -13.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average import price increased by 50% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $7,005 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sri Lanka ($6,883 per ton), while the price for Indonesia stood at $5,733 per ton.

From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (-1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
