The average import price for spices; cardamoms, crushed or ground stood at $20,630 per ton in 2022, dropping by -24.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a measured expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 43% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $31,278 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sri Lanka ($134,756 per ton), while the price for India ($18,038 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Guatemala (+30.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 94%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $348K.
