Price for Soap in Bars Other than for Toilet Use in Azerbaijan (CIF) - 2023

The average import price for soap and organic surface-active products in bars other than for toilet use stood at $1,191 per ton in November 2023, picking up by 10% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $1,316 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to November 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Russia ($3,750 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($1,012 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average export price for soap and organic surface-active products in bars other than for toilet use amounted to $1,028 per ton, increasing by 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a dramatic setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 195% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $6,667 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($3,214 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkmenistan ($668 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2016 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+33.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports of Soap in Bars Other than for Toilet Use in Azerbaijan

In 2022, purchases abroad of soap and organic surface-active products in bars other than for toilet use decreased by -2% to 3.5K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 1% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 3.7K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, imports of soap and organic surface-active products in bars other than for toilet use reached $4.2M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
