Price for Soap in Bars for Toilet Use in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022

The average export price for soap and organic surface-active products in bars for toilet use stood at $1,605 per ton in March 2022, declining by -5.7% against the previous month. Over the period from March 2021 to March 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2021 an increase of 10% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,701 per ton in February 2022, and then fell in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($2,691 per ton), while the average price for exports to Mauritania ($800 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In March 2022, the average import price for soap and organic surface-active products in bars for toilet use amounted to $3,811 per ton, with an increase of 14% against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2022 when the average import price increased by 49% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $4,201 per ton in April 2021; however, from May 2021 to March 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($7,650 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($1,775 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Soap in Bars for Toilet Use in Indonesia

In 2022, overseas shipments of soap and organic surface-active products in bars for toilet use increased by 2.8% to 145K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt curtailment.

In value terms, exports of soap and organic surface-active products in bars for toilet use soared to $252M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
