In August 2023, the average smoked fish, incl. fillets import price amounted to $8,390 per ton, surging by 78% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a slight descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2023 an increase of 174% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $10,065 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Norway ($19,401 per ton), while the price for French Polynesia ($1,911 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+14.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average smoked fish, incl. fillets export price amounted to $9,317 per ton, increasing by 5.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price posted a slight expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 92% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $18,809 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Bermuda ($36,770 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($8,241 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bermuda (+15.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
