Price for Seeds, Fruit and Spores; of A Kind Used for Sowing in Germany (FOB) - 2023

In September 2023, the average export price for seeds, fruit and spores; of a kind used for sowing amounted to $8,694 per ton, leveling off at the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2023 when the average export price increased by 39% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $17,135 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Russia ($41,736 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($1,989 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, import price indicated a pronounced increase from November 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0% over the last ten months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, import price for seeds, fruit and spores; of a kind used for sowing increased by +65.3% against June 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2023 an increase of 35% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $6,880 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Chile ($148K per ton), while the price for Norway ($1,570 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+16.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 9.8%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +13.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
