Price for Refined or Synthetic Glycerol in Vietnam (CIF) - 2022
The average refined or synthetic glycerol import price stood at $899 per ton in 2022, which is down by -13.7% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, refined or synthetic glycerol import price increased by +24.5% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 41% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,087 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($1,471 per ton), while the price for the United States ($653 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average refined or synthetic glycerol export price stood at $877 per ton in 2022, dropping by -13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, refined or synthetic glycerol export price increased by +6.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 45%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,086 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to the Philippines ($1,006 per ton) and Lao People's Democratic Republic ($988 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($761 per ton) and Taiwan (Chinese) ($852 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+5.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Refined or Synthetic Glycerol in Vietnam
In 2022, the amount of refined or synthetic glycerol imported into Vietnam shrank to 14K tons, dropping by -6% on the previous year. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 14%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 15K tons, and then dropped in the following year.
