Price for Printed Matter in Single Sheets in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021
In December 2021, the average export price for printed matter in single sheets, whether or not folded amounted to $3,529 per ton, with an increase of 2.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2021 an increase of 91% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $6,538 per ton in January 2021; however, from February 2021 to December 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($24,225 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($2,095 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for printed matter in single sheets, whether or not folded stood at $2,056 per ton in December 2021, growing by 4.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2021 when the average import price increased by 77% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $7,040 per ton in August 2021; however, from September 2021 to December 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was China ($12,541 per ton), while the price for Singapore ($985 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+17.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Printed Matter in Single Sheets in Malaysia
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of printed matter in single sheets, whether or not folded, when their volume increased by 13% to 3.7K tons. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a precipitous setback.
In value terms, printed matter in single sheets exports expanded remarkably to $14M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a deep slump.
