Price for Powders of Pig Iron in Romania (FOB) - 2023
The average powders of pig iron export price stood at $2,056 per ton in June 2023, flattening at the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 9.1% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,158 per ton. From May 2023 to June 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($4,126 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($1,463 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average powders of pig iron import price stood at $1,462 per ton in June 2023, which is down by -23.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 20% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $2,192 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Austria ($2,669 per ton), while the price for Germany ($501 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+1.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Powders of Pig Iron in Romania
Powders of pig iron exports from Romania reduced slightly to 46K tons in 2022, with a decrease of -1.5% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 18%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 47K tons, and then shrank modestly in the following year.
In value terms, powders of pig iron exports rose remarkably to $94M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +61.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 46%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Imports of Powders of Pig Iron in Romania

Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 54% against the previous year.
