In general, total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Germany (X tons), Italy (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main destinations of pig iron articles exports from Romania, together comprising 72% of total exports. Austria, China, Poland, Slovakia, the United States, Turkey, Thailand, South Korea and India lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 24%.
