In June 2022, the average import price for polymers of vinyl chloride or of other halogenated olefins, in primary formses amounted to $1,455 per ton, picking up by 6.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2022 an increase of 24% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,805 per ton in February 2022; however, from March 2022 to June 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2022, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($2,019 per ton), while the price for China ($1,003 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2021 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of polymers of vinyl chloride or of other halogenated olefins, in primary formses decreased by -24.2% to 138K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 79% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 252K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports of remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, imports of polymers of vinyl chloride or of other halogenated olefins, in primary formses reduced notably to $197M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 102% against the previous year.
