The average import price for polymers of vinyl chloride or of other halogenated olefins, in primary formses stood at $1,892 per ton in October 2023, increasing by 12% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a noticeable expansion from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, import price for polymers of vinyl chloride or of other halogenated olefins, in primary formses increased by +16.2% against August 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 44% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $2,448 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to October 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

The average export price for polymers of vinyl chloride or of other halogenated olefins, in primary formses stood at $1,361 per ton in October 2023, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 23% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $1,881 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to October 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Russia ($6,855 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($836 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+9.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of polymers of vinyl chloride or of other halogenated olefins, in primary formses decreased by -3.2% to 50K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 53%.
