The average import price for plants, live; bulbs, tubers, tuberous roots, corms, crowns and rhizomes, dormants stood at $0.3 per unit in 2022, falling by -11.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 53%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $0.3 per unit. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Pakistan ($1.7 per unit), while the price for India ($0.1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Pakistan (+36.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 2.6% against the previous year. Imports peaked at 453K units in 2021, and then shrank modestly in the following year.

In value terms, imports of plants, live; bulbs, tubers, tuberous roots, corms, crowns and rhizomes, dormants shrank to $115K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a noticeable reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $130K, and then declined in the following year.
