In October 2023, the average import price for peat; (including peat litter), whether or not agglomerateds amounted to $219 per ton, surging by 11% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 31% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $268 per ton. From February 2023 to October 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($270 per ton), while the price for Ireland ($137 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price peaked at $345 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($907 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($82 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
