In August 2023, the average import price for organo-sulphur compounds other than thiocarbamates, dithiocarbamates, thiuram sulphides and methionine amounted to $2,400 per ton, declining by -27.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a perceptible decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 212% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $10,101 per ton. From May 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($2,412 per ton), while the price for Serbia stood at $2,309 per ton.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for organo-sulphur compounds other than thiocarbamates, dithiocarbamates, thiuram sulphides and methionine stood at $2,443 per ton in 2022, declining by -2.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 107% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $5,430 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was North Macedonia ($25,429 per ton), while the average price for exports to Sweden ($1,354 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Finland (+27.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth year in a row, Bulgaria recorded growth in purchases abroad of organo-sulphur compounds other than thiocarbamates, dithiocarbamates, thiuram sulphides and methionine, which increased by 13% to 4K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 28%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, imports of organo-sulphur compounds other than thiocarbamates, dithiocarbamates, thiuram sulphides and methionine soared to $13M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw significant growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
