In 2016, the global imports of organo-sulphur compound amounted to 2M tonnes, moving up by 2% against the previous year figure. In general, organo-sulphur compound imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010, when import increased by 5% y-o-y. Over the period under review, global organo-sulphur compound imports reached its maximum volume of 2M tonnes in 2008- afterwards, it flattened through to 2016.

Organo-Sulphur Compound Imports By Country

The countries with the highest levels of organo-sulphur compound imports in 2016 were China (237K tonnes), Belgium (170K tonnes), the U.S. (170K tonnes), Spain (118K tonnes), Brazil (104K tonnes), Germany (72K tonnes), South Korea (64K tonnes), Mexico (64K tonnes), Thailand (57K tonnes), India (51K tonnes), Indonesia (48K tonnes), and France (44K tonnes), together reaching 61% of total import.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of organo-sulphur compound imports, among the main importing countries, was attained by Mexico (+7.8% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest organo-sulphur compound markets worldwide were China ($820M), the U.S. ($766M) and Brazil ($613M), with a combined 29% share of global imports.Belgium, Germany, South Korea, India, Spain, Mexico, France, Thailand and Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.

India (+13.7% per year) experienced the highest growth rate of organo-sulphur compound imports, among the main importing countries, over the last 9 year period, while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Organo-Sulphur Compound Import Prices By Country

The average organo-sulphur compound import price stood at $3,875 per tonne in 2016, waning by -15.4% against the previous year. In general, organo-sulphur compound import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011, when it surged by 20% against the previous year level. Global organo-sulphur compound import peaked of $5,495 per tonne in 2012- however, from 2013 to 2016, it failed to regain its strength.

Import prices varied noticeably by country of destination. the country with the highest import prices was Brazil ($5,902 per tonne), while Spain ($1,937 per tonne) was among the lowest.

From 2007 to 2016, the most notable growth rate of organo-sulphur compound import prices was attained by Germany (+15.0% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
