The average export price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds stood at $601 per ton in October 2023, which is down by -24.2% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a mild expansion from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, export price for onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and other alliaceous vegetables; fresh or chilleds decreased by -50.9% against June 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 25% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $1,225 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to October 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($812 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cote d'Ivoire ($431 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Dominican Republic (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
