Price for Non-Citrus Fruits Not Elsewhere Classified in the United States (CIF) - 2023

In September 2023, the average import price for non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified amounted to $804 per ton, falling by -12.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2023 an increase of 16% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,268 per ton in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($4,480 per ton), while the price for Mexico amounted to $696 per ton.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+3.9%).

The average export price for non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified stood at $3,058 per ton in September 2023, growing by 32% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $3,512 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to September 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($7,182 per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($907 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+9.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Non-Citrus Fruits Not Elsewhere Classified in the United States

For the fourth year in a row, the United States recorded growth in purchases abroad of non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified, which increased by 6.8% to 247K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imports rose notably to $270M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Over the period under review, exports showed a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 7.1% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 31K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified exports contracted sharply to $62M in 2022. In general, exports showed a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $78M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
