Price for Nickel; Unwrought, Not Alloyed in Brazil (CIF) - 2023

In September 2023, the average nickel; unwrought, not alloyed import price amounted to $22,420 per ton, reducing by -2.5% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a mild curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 12% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $31,255 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the countries with the highest prices were the UK ($27,159 per ton) and Norway ($22,733 per ton), while the price for Switzerland ($20,711 per ton) and Russia ($21,519 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Switzerland (0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average nickel; unwrought, not alloyed export price stood at $16,049 per ton in 2022, increasing by 4.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 507% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $96,211 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Argentina.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Belgium amounted to -0.8% per year.

Imports of Nickel; Unwrought, Not Alloyed in Brazil

Nickel; unwrought, not alloyed imports into Brazil shrank to 6.4K tons in 2022, which is down by -12.4% on 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a notable increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last three years.
