In 2022, the average import price for nickel; plates, sheets, strip and foils amounted to $38,427 per ton, increasing by 11% against the previous year. Overall, the import price posted a notable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 108% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $156,202 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($171,890 per ton), while the price for Germany ($16,546 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+8.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for nickel; plates, sheets, strip and foils stood at $36,193 per ton in 2022, waning by -13.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $112,889 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($385,397 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($12,505 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+27.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Nickel; Plates, Sheets, Strip and Foil in Hungary
In 2022, the amount of nickel; plates, sheets, strip and foils imported into Hungary skyrocketed to 214 tons, increasing by 25% on the previous year's figure.
