In September 2023, the average import price for mollusc preparations; mussels, prepared or preserveds amounted to $3,018 per ton, with an increase of 6.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a noticeable contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2023 when the average import price increased by 11% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $3,900 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Denmark ($10,767 per ton) and Bahamas ($9,722 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($7,485 per ton) and Panama ($7,548 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2018 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Marshall Islands (+24.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
