In June 2023, the average import price for mica, including splittings; mica wastes amounted to $460 per ton, declining by -5.3% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when the average import price increased by 35% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $583 per ton. From October 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Namibia ($710 per ton), while the price for Madagascar ($297 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for mica, including splittings; mica wastes stood at $318 per ton in 2022, falling by -5.4% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 35%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $336 per ton in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($853 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($229 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of mica, including splittings; mica wastes decreased by -25.3% to 148K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 36%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $85M, and then shrank notably in the following year.
