Price for Manganese Ore and Concentrate in China (CIF) - 2023
The average manganese ore and concentrate import price stood at $173 per ton in June 2023, picking up by 1.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a slight descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2022 an increase of 8.2% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $232 per ton. From August 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Australia ($203 per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($92.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ghana (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Price for Manganese Ore and Concentrate in China (FOB) - 2023
The average manganese ore and concentrate export price stood at $654 per ton in June 2023, rising by 103% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw modest growth. The export price peaked at $761 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($975 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($300 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Manganese Ore and Concentrate in China
After two years of decline, purchases abroad of manganese ores and concentrates increased by 1.7% to 30M tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced curtailment.
In value terms, manganese ore and concentrate imports skyrocketed to $5.9B in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a perceptible contraction.
