The average import price for lubricating preparations not for the treatment of materials stood at $5,023 per ton in December 2022, standing approximately at the previous month. Over the period from December 2021 to December 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2022 when the average import price increased by 16% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $5,086 per ton in November 2022, and then fell modestly in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($6,012 per ton), while the price for Taiwan (Chinese) ($3,817 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for lubricating preparations not for the treatment of materials stood at $5,772 per ton in December 2022, picking up by 2.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 11% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $6,818 per ton in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to December 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In December 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices to the United States ($7,233 per ton) and China ($6,735 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($5,325 per ton) and Myanmar ($5,325 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+1.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Lubricating Preparations Not for the Treatment of Materials in Vietnam

In 2022, the amount of lubricating preparations not for the treatment of materials imported into Vietnam dropped modestly to 60K tons, shrinking by -3.8% compared with the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.
