The average export price for lubricating preparations not for the treatment of materials stood at $6,794 per ton in September 2023, reducing by -1.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a modest expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 10% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $7,079 per ton. From March 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($14,741 per ton), while the average price for exports to Algeria ($5,089 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2023, the average import price for lubricating preparations not for the treatment of materials amounted to $5,709 per ton, with an increase of 6.5% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 19% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $6,115 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +70.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of lubricating preparations not for treatment of materials hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
