Price for Lift, Elevator, Stairway and Dragline in Germany (FOB) - 2023
The average export price for lifts, elevators, moving stairways and draglines stood at $29,589 per unit in August 2023, shrinking by -16% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 22% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $35,226 per unit in July 2023, and then shrank markedly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($52,531 per unit), while the average price for exports to Poland ($15,809 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for lifts, elevators, moving stairways and draglines amounted to $22,397 per unit, surging by 16% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a noticeable downturn. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $33,056 per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($58,561 per unit), while the price for Greece ($18,995 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+41.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Lift, Elevator, Stairway and Dragline in Germany
In 2022, shipments abroad of lifts, elevators, moving stairways and draglines decreased by -30.2% to 45K units, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports recorded a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 74%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 92K units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, lift, elevator, stairway and dragline exports fell to $747M in 2022. In general, exports showed a abrupt decline. The smallest decline of -4.3% was in 2021. The exports peaked at $936M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
