Price for Lift, Elevator, Stairway and Dragline in China (FOB) - 2022

The average export price for lifts, elevators, moving stairways and draglines stood at $13,223 per unit in 2022, reducing by -5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 9.9% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $26,331 per unit. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($21,812 per unit), while the average price for exports to the United States ($5,122 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (-1.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average import price for lifts, elevators, moving stairways and draglines amounted to $28,545 per unit, which is down by -16.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 24% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $68,866 per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($54,902 per unit), while the price for Belgium ($7,923 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Exports of Lift, Elevator, Stairway and Dragline in China

For the fourth year in a row, China recorded growth in shipments abroad of lifts, elevators, moving stairways and draglines, which increased by 11% to 169K units in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.2% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 13% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, lift, elevator, stairway and dragline exports rose significantly to $2.2B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 15% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

For the third consecutive year, China recorded decline in overseas purchases of lifts, elevators, moving stairways and draglines, which decreased by -6% to 4.4K units in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt slump. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at 7.2K units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, lift, elevator, stairway and dragline imports plummeted to $126M in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a significant decrease. The smallest decline of -16.6% was in 2020. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $269M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
