In 2022, the average laptop and tablet computer import price amounted to $461 per unit, surging by 14% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, laptop and tablet computer import price increased by +137.0% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 41%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($856 per unit), while the price for Romania ($182 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+8.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In July 2023, the average laptop and tablet computer export price amounted to $836 per unit, declining by -12.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a mild contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 14% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $1,110 per unit in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($2,966 per unit), while the average price for exports to Italy ($661 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+10.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports of Laptop and Tablet Computer in Greece

After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of laptops and palm-top computers increased by 23% to 2.2M units in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, laptop and tablet computer imports soared to $1B in 2022. In general, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.7% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas shipments of laptops and palm-top computers, when their volume increased by 47% to 1.4M units. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep contraction. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at 1.6M units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, laptop and tablet computer exports soared to $715M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
