Price for Iron Oxides and Hydroxides in Ukraine (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average iron oxides and hydroxides import price amounted to $1,324 per ton, approximately equating the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 104% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,225 per ton. From May 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,933 per ton), while the price for Spain ($677 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average iron oxides and hydroxides export price stood at $1,305 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -40.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a moderate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $2,197 per ton in 2021, and then fell significantly in the following year.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Moldova.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Poland amounted to +5.9% per year.
Imports of Iron Oxides and Hydroxides in Ukraine
In 2022, purchases abroad of iron oxides and hydroxideses decreased by -61.6% to 1.6K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, imports saw a sharp downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 24%.
